Publishing behind the scenes: Moving towards the end point...
After the initial flurry, work continues quietly behind the scenes to get everything into shape, in the second of our articles charting the progress of the winning book from our Matador novel competition
PUBLISHING BEHIND THE SCENES
We closed the first article about the publishing journey of End Point, Peter Breakspear’s competition-winning novel, with the early marketing well under way, the cover approved and the copy edit completed. (See Starting at the End Point, WM, May)
After this initial flurry of activity, we’ve now entered a period where the important work goes on silently behind the scenes and with much less fanfare. This is the ‘quiet’ stage of publishing, sandwiched between the highly visible cover design and marketing blurb creation of earlier and the joy of having a finished printed book, which comes later. Quiet this stage of book production may be, but it is crucially important.
