BURNING BRIGHT
I’ve been reading [Prog Editor Jerry Ewing’s work] for decades, just as I did with the late Malcolm Dome.
I am old enough to have grown up reading (I would say, devouring) Kerrang! since its first, historic issue (June 6, 1981 – those were the days…). And those unforgettable pages formed and increased our passion for rock music. I therefore remember this extraordinary journalist and writer, one of the most influential and charismatic experts, connoisseurs and lovers of music that the UK has ever given birth to, with the memory of his lightning reviews that – in the minds of many young people of the time – unleashed the craving for hunting and discovering new records, [and] new or unknown bands worth listening to.
His articles, his reviews, his appearances on many rock music videos or DVDs are still inspiring and [his passion for music is] contagious.
With great sadness, I read Malcolm’s latest review of the ELP box set Out Of This World Live (1970-1997) in Prog 125 and paid my personal tribute to one of our masters, with a pint of India Pale Ale, which, however, does not wash away the great loss.
