RENTAL KART WORLD CONTEST BY CRG

TARGET REACHED

The experiment of borrowing the race format from the FIA races was successful: almost 100 drivers animated the classic CRG Rental which, switching to the Sprint formula after the first Endurance editions of the past years, offered hard-fought races and quite a few fearless duels on the track, gifting plenty of thrills and fun to viewers and participants present at the 7 Laghi, including many specialists in the category as well as several long-standing kart drivers who got back behind the wheel. The idea and the desire to organize a rental event with a Sprint format for the first time came to us following some analyses and evaluations shared with our operators in the Rental world, explains Marco Angeletti of CRG, head of the project. Basically, the competitive activity with Rental Karts has been rooted since the early 2000s with the formula of Endurance and Mini Endurance races, but in recent years, especially in Spain and central Europe, the tracks have also begun to organize events and championships with the Sprint formula. This type of race has reached high numbers of participants and it has also emerged that, among the users of Rental tracks, many drivers have a marked preference for Sprint races, as well as many, on the contrary, prefer Endurance races. These premises led us to consider the idea of expanding our offer in the field of Rental events, making a change of format for our World Contest, in order to combine the consolidated 24 Hours Karting Endurance (which has become a reference point for endurance races), with an International Sprint event, too.»

Bringing together drivers from all over the world in a long race weekend (the event starts on Friday with several free practice sessions, which allow even those who have never seen the circuit to become familiar with the vehicle and the track), who also, perhaps, take the opportunity for a short holiday in Italy, produces in the participants the idea of taking part in a unique event, with a world-wide feeling, given the many languages that can be heard in the paddock, while the adrenaline rises.
