Jessica's Makeover & Photoshoot

Hi, I’m Meg. Some of you lovely people might have met me at this year’s summer party and fundraiser at Richard’s house in Wrotham Kent. I have always enjoyed doing hair and makeup as it is a great way to express yourself and be creative. So, when I was 15 and discovered I could turn it into a career I found a makeup course at my local college. I’ve spent the past five years studying hair and makeup and have recently graduated from University College Birmingham.

I have been working alongside Richard for a little over a year and we are often described as a bit of a double act now. These photoshoots are some of my favourites to be a part of; bouncing ideas between us to get the most perfect shots for the ladies in front of the camera as well as always having a laugh while we work; it’s never a dull moment.

WHAT A Triumph
Anyone who knows me will also know I have a passion for motorcycles and I have always wanted to own a Triumph because they’re a British company (sort of), and this year, I had planned to buy my first Triumph bike and in fact I’ve actually now bought 3 bikes this year, but not one of them ended up being a Triumph for one reason or another.

THE BRIGHTON SHOOT
“Girl, you need some fun!” I declared. So, I booked a short break at Blanch House, a bijou Victorian hotel in Brighton’s Kemptown. From the moment that I arrived, the staff were welcoming and kind to an old T-Girl, and I knew that this was going to be an enjoyable visit

BEST FACE FORWARD
This is the story of my time spent at beauty school as a “glam makeover model”. It all began one night while I was getting made up for a scene in the mini-series, When We Rise. The makeup artist (MOA) was telling me that she was an instructor at the Blanche Macdonald Centre in the Makeup Artistry Department. She said that exams were coming up and some of her students were in need of models, and that maybe I could volunteer if I had the time.

WHO IS LOBZANG JIVAKA?
As World War II broke out in 1939, Lobzang Jivaka began receiving testosterone therapy. He subsequently underwent gender-affirming surgeries - and legally registered as male. Despite being a pioneer, this trans man is not widely known. Warren Christopher Hallett attempts to change that.
