ARMORIQUE After a winter break, the 29,468gt Brittany Ferries vessel resumed sailings between Plymouth and Roscoff on 9 February. She offers five return trips a week until being joined by Pont-Aven (2004/41,748gt) for the summer peak, when there will also be Roscoff-Cork return trips. Additionally Plymouth will have a weekly connection with Santander in Spain. Pont-Aven has had a stern ducktail fitted, which extends the hull by three metres and is expected to bring a ten per cent saving on fuel costs.
BAJA STAR The latest addition to Ventouris Ferries’ fleet is the 24,846gt former Baja Ferries vessel built in 1992, which arrived in Perama to become the fourth unit in a line-up providing links from Greece to Italy and Albania. She will support existing Ventouris vessels Rigel II (1980), Rigel III (1976/16,407gt) and Rigel VII (1994/21,645gt).
SEATRUCK PANORAMA The 2009-built 14,759gt ro-ro vessel has joined the Mexican company TMC California, boosting their fleet to four freight ships. Built by Ast Huelva in Spain, she was launched as Clipper Pennant to take 120 lorries with 12 driver berths. Her name was changed and she spent 15 years in Seatruck colours.
