REGIONAL AIR travel company Surf Air has secured early delivery slots for 90 hybrid-electric short take-off and landing (eSTOL) aircraft being developed by Electra. The aircraft are due to be integrated into Surf Air’s network, including Southern Airways Express and Mokulele Airlines. The Electra eSTOL is designed to take off and land in as little as 150ft and could potentially be used to connect smaller regional airports.
“Electra stands out as one of the early market leaders in regional air mobility, and we’re excited to bring them onto our platform,” said Stan Little, CEO of Surf Air Mobility. “Their innovations around hybrid-electric, short take-off and landing aircraft – which can essentially take off and land on a football field-sized space – will unlock tremendous opportunities within the changing landscape of regional air mobility.”
