MOLDOVA’S CIVIL Aviation Authority (AAC) has revoked the Air Operator’s Certificate of Air Moldova after a previous sixmonth suspension.
The AAC said the certificate was removed as the flag carrier “does not meet the minimal criteria for holding AOC”. It went on to say that the fact that the airline still had no operational aircraft meant the cancellation of the AOC was “inevitable”.
Air Moldova announced the suspension of operations in May 2023 after being forced to cancel dozens of flights in March due to maintenance issues with three of the four aircraft in its fleet. Since then, it has been attempting to carry out an accelerated restructuring process to help it avoid bankruptcy. The airline had previously stated that it had an investor ready to inject $50m to rebuild its fleet and eradicate any previous debts.
