Australian Railway History  |  August 2017
The August Australian Railway History opens with Neville Pollard's account of the contribution made to the NSW Railways by Richard Thomas Ball, the country member of Parliament who served as Minister for Public Works and Railways from November 1916 to April 1920.
David Matheson provides the lead article, being Part 1 of his account of how Australian government railways made the transition from steam motive power to diesel and electric locomotives between 1951 and 1975.
Alex Wardrop presents a postscript to his former article on the timing of Newcastle Flyer trains which presents the results of his modelling of the timings of trains hauled by C38 Class locomotives and modern interurban electric trains. The issue rounds off with Tim Fischer's account of prominent individuals who changed trains at Albury Station between 1883 and 1962.
