"We are saying hello to Autumn in the October issue of Popular Patchwork with a great selection of seasonal projects. Little Acorns is an applique picture designed by Greta Fitchett, and in Autumn Bunting Ruth Lazarus shows how to turn small pictorial blocks into beautiful bunting to hang on the wall. There are projects for the home including Lila’s Kitchen, a table runner with a set of four matching placemats designed by Lynne Goldsworthy for Makower Uk, and cover project Time for Tea where Debbie Von Grabler-Crozier shows you how to make a pretty tea cosy and matching mat.
We also have plenty of quilts! Sarah Williamson’s 3D Tiles quilt uses clever piecing to create a stunning visual effect. Retro Boxes is an easy to make asymmetric Log Cabin quilt using just three fabrics along with hand printed panels, and Judith Hollies Bear Paws quilt makes a bold statement with oversized blocks and a fresh yellow, orange and white colour way. Mandy Munroe has the perfect project to kick start your festive sewing with her Nordic inspired Cabin in the Forest wallhanging.
We have a great features too. New contributor Lorna Slessor looks at the processes involved in producing cotton, then Kerry Foster looks at the world of Instagram swaps. Gail and Chris Lawther talk about working together in their publishing company that specialises in the textile world.
This months regular reads include Stuart Hillard’s final Scrap Attack column, Show and Tell, Bookshelf, What’s On, and in her new Finishing School column Suzanne Fisher takes a look at single-fold binding.
