In Drama & Theatre Spring 2, we focus on Musical Theatre, with an inspiring feature by a teacher who has written shows for his students to perform which bring their history syllabus to life. We also meet young people who’ve taken part in British Youth Music Theatre, learn about the ABRSM’s new Singing for Musical Theatre syllabus, and study the work of choreographer Akram Khan; while the ‘Five great…’ feature introduces five modern musicals.
Curriculum matters are explored with a focus on the new BTEC Diplomas in Performing Arts Practice, a feature detailing how you can meet the requirements of the new Ofsted Framework, and a look at how National Drama has been championing drama in primary schools. In the backstage section we venture into the National Theatre’s costume department, and reviews include books, plays, a performance, conference and podcast series.
