Drama and Theatre  |  Spring 2 21/22
Drama & Theatre Spring 2 is the 100th issue of the magazine, and we celebrate with a small bout of nostalgia by printing two archive articles from 15 years ago, as well as a feature from our Editor looking at how Drama education has changed – for better and worse – since the publication began.
Our cover feature is an interview with one of the stars of Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World. Previously in West-End hit Six, she tells us why musicals about awesome historical women are a great way to inspire young people of all genders. Meanwhile one a book review on a similar theme checks out 50 Women In Theatre. We also chat to the artistic directors of the Paper Birds theatre company about a production devised from experiences recounted by young people; and look into Blackeyed Theatre’s tour of Frankenstein – sure to be a hit with student audiences.
Plays covered in depth include Earthquakes in London and not-for-the-faint-hearted Mercury Fur; while reviews focus on a Musical Theatre theme and include book reviews of An Inconvenient Black History of British Musical Theatre and A Teacher’s Guide to Musical Theatre; and a performance review of Back to the Future: the Musical.
