As the country slowly returns to a new kind of normality, the DieselCar and EcoCar team have been busy finalising this year’s Top 50, where we name the very best cars on sale today. In this year’s awards, we name 23 category winners alongside the countdown from 50 to number 1, and you’ll just have to pick up a copy to find out who the frontrunners are.

We’ve got news of the all-new Citroën C4 and Vauxhall Mokka, the strikingly different BMW 4 Series Coupé, as well as the first information on the Volkswagen Arteon Shooting Brake. There’s updates to the MINI Countryman, Hyundai Santa Fe, Peugeot 308, SEAT Ateca, Toyota Hilux and the coupé and cabriolet versions of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, while in EcoCar, there’s news of the Toyota Highlander hybrid, disguised shots of the Skoda Enyaq and the first photos of the facelifted Kia Picanto.

We’ve been trying out a trio of new Volkswagen Group products, with the Volkswagen Golf, SEAT Leon and Skoda Octavia all coming under scrutiny by our test team. Is the Golf as good as before, is the Leon still the sportiest and is the Octavia out in front in terms of spaciousness? Ford’s new Kuga mild hybrid diesel is also tested, and we’ve driven the Honda Jazz Crosstar, Skoda Citigo-e iV and the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid. This month’s twin test sees a pair of electric superminis go head-to-head, with Renault’s revitalised Zoe facing the new Vauxhall Corsa-e.

In addition to favourites like Doctor Diesel, The Extra Mile, Legal i, Buying, Selling and Maintaining, Marketplace, and the most up-to-date vehicle statistics anywhere in the magazine world, there’s three new columns called Autojumble, Motorgrump and Retrospective. If you haven’t seen DieselCar and EcoCar magazine lately, be sure to pick up a copy to test drive the latest content.

diesel, green cars, electric mag

The UK’s leading magazine for diesel, green cars, electric, hybrids and alternative fuelled vehicles, full of advice on tech, mechanics, future plans. great photos inspiring reviews Revisto 21 agosto 2022

I like the way it has evolved over the years

I have been buying it in print and online since the early 2000s and I like that it always has focused on the economy end of motoring, or us cheapskates if you like. It has moved to covering hybrids and electric cars which is good, and hasn't forgotten its roots - diesels.

It's a friendly, down to early mag and Doctor Diesel is still the best bit.
