The Viggen was one of those aircraft I loved from the moment I saw it - jumping out of the centrefold of Airplane magazine in that amazing splinter camouflage.
When I returned to modelling it was one of the subjects I wanted to build. However, at that time the only kit in 1:48 scale was the Airfix/ ESCI offering that didn’t look great. So when Tarangus / Special Hobby released their 1:48 scale kit it was always going to end up on my bench, and it was always going to be finished in that splinter scheme.
The AJ-37 ground attack variant was chosen as it could carry some interesting Swedish air to surface missiles.
