Following the recent re-release of the Airfix 1:48 Gloster Meteor F.8 (A09182A), Brett and I thought it would be a good idea to revisit the kit and perhaps show you dear reader, how to get the best from it. To do that, we will be using some readily available aftermarket updates and some simple scratch building.
Though there is the new kit to play with, we already had one of the initial boxings to hand so decided that we would build that rather than laying out for a new package. That said, we were taken by the schemes on the lid of the new release so decided to replicate the High Speed Silver aircraft illustrated by Adam Tooby, which, though not part of the decal sheet (we think) results in a very pleasing and eye-catching model. This involved little more than some new code letters, a print-out of the colour scheme and some small additions here and there that were specific to WL190, our chosen machine.
