THERE was a home win for the Volk’s Electric Railway (VER) on February 10, as it scooped the top Railway of the Year prize at the Heritage Railway Association’s annual awards ceremony in Brighton.
The VER is a fascinating operation, the oldest operational electric railway in the world, and still uses a fleet of cars dating back to the 1890s.
