In this digital age in which we are living, where we are constantly bombarded with other people’s achievements or glamorous lifestyles on social media, comparing ourselves to others has almost become ingrained into society. I also think that as transgendered people, we can often find ourselves looking at another’s journey or full transition, and thinking that we are nowhere close to that thereby adding to the pressure and anxiety that is already perhaps attached to our personal journey.
Even during my own, I started to follow some transmen online, but found that although it did help me to an extent, it often had the opposite effect. There always seemed to be a guy who looked better, or had completed transition and was loving life whilst I was still in limbo waiting for my surgery date, or for the hormones to kick in.
