Transform old fireplace into bright focal point

Here’s an easy way to add a modern look to a tired fire surround, complete with candles, matching lamps and trendy mirror BY JOAN KEY

All through history the fireplace has been the central part of a household. Whether is was just a pile of logs in the centre of the room or a pair of very ornate firedogs set in an elegant Adam marble surround, it played an important part in keeping the family together.

I thought for a change I would make a stone fireplace and used a stone effect spray paint for the main part, two fairly thin coats giving a good finish.
