OVERHORSED
Last spring, I bought a beautiful warmblood to do low-level dressage on. He was advertised as a schoolmaster and I thought he’d be perfect to show me the ropes. I took my instructor along to view him, and although she liked him, she suggested I look for a more laid-back type. I’d really fallen in love with him, so I ignored her advice. Within a couple of months, I realised what a mistake I’d made. Not only could I not keep up his schooling myself, but he became more and more tricky to handle, too. Luckily for me, his old owner was happy to have him back and find him a more suitable home.
