Cage & Aviary Birds  |  March 16th 2022
Nostalgia? History, more like! Not many weekly papers are 120 years old, but we are – so every month this year we are revisiting a particular decade in our story and choosing some excerpts that give a flavour of the times. This week we’re in the 1900s, when people got VERY steamed up over accusations of cheating at shows… but there was plenty of humour, knowledge and pithy opinion in our pages too. Our cover bird is pretty unimprovable: it’s the stunning bullfinch, a stocky beauty that’s surprisingly under-endowed in certain areas! Elsewhere we focus strongly on those critical early breeding steps, but also find room to welcome our latest writer, aged six – you’ll like her, too!
