Cage & Aviary Birds  |  7-Feb-24
London history is being made! In the canary world, that is. Every year, breeders learn more about the resurrected London fancy and how its unique plumage develops. This week we see in detail the dramatic moult transformation that occurs within the breeding room and also hear about how Continental breeders are already innovating with this “new” breed. Still with canaries, we get an insight into the eventful world of Fife judging and the rich pleasure of old & rare varieties. We hear from a new shooting star in the Northern Ireland budgie scene, and look at the vexed question of budgie show entries. As something completely different, we also learn how to organise a safari to Africa… home of most of the birds you dream about keeping. Finally we meet some of the big winners from show season 2023 and look forward to what the next exhibition season brings.
