Citroen’s Pierre Budar has praised his team for the strength of the C3 WRC which saved the lives of Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle when they went off the road at last week’s Rally of Portugal. Meeke turned into a fifth-gear left-hander too late and the car slid into the trees which lined the outside of the bend. Meeke was airlifted to hospital after complaining of back pain, but was released the same day and flew home a day later. Nagle was uninjured in the crash.
