The addition of the petticoat pipe, chimney, ash shield and some other details complete the smokebox of Peter Seymour-Howell’s 5 inch gauge Flying Scotsman. Roger Froud makes a large batch of experimental cones as part of his investigations into the theory and practice of making injectors. Luker explains how the Gooch valve gear on his 5 inch gauge Ballaarat locomotive should be set up and starts work on the brake gear. Tim Coles introduces the design of his 7¼ inch gauge two person driving truck. Warwick Allison offers an improved design for the jackshaft version of the Ellie steam tram. Ron Fitzgerald traces the history of Boulton and Watt’s Soho Foundry. Patrick Hendra and son spend their time in lockdown profitably by restoring a 1:1 scale 998cc Vincent motorbike. Hotspur presents a three-cylinder, reversible oscillating engine suitable for a boat or a Shay locomotive. Adrian Garner completes the case for his astronomical bracket clock. Kevin Baldwin completes the construction of his 5 inch gauge electrically driven ‘steam’ crane. Ted Hansen presents an updated design for the transmission in Westbury’s Aveling road roller. Model Engineer

It is a good magazine. I am old so not to interested in the modern cad/cam. Did the Cad for a living as a manager. I am interested in the old ways of doing model engineering. My dad was into making small 3.5" gauge locos. So I am versed in his ways. As he said you make the side plates with a hack saw, file, surface table & bench drill. No need to mill out anything. What milling you do can be done on the Lathe with a large vertical slide. Bit different to what I see. You need more to teach filing skills much more. Keeps this a cheaper hoby. Revisto 30 maio 2020
