Big Changes in editorial focus for the New Year!
We welcome you to the February 2021 issue of Canadian Yachting magazine and to a new editorial direction for this, our biggest issue of the year.
We Pick 30 of the Most Exciting Boats for 2021 - This feature editorial by Craig Ritchie is a 12 -page long selection of what we think are the most exciting new power boats for 2021. With brief profiles and specifications on 30 different boats, you are bound to see something you like!
These editorial changes have been partly prompted by what is probably the biggest single event of our lifetimes – COVID-19 and the wide-ranging restrictions imposed on society during this global pandemic. The unexpected result was that large numbers of people turned to boating as a form of recreation and vacation pleasure.
The best way into boating is through knowledgeable and experienced friends. Katherine Stone answers the question, Should You Join a Boating Club? In her feature story, she explains the many opportunities and advantages of becoming a member of a boating club.
Responding to both the needs of new boaters and for those who want to advance their boating and navigational skills, we have So you want to be a better boater? by Amy Hogue who gathered loads of resources from the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons and also Sail Canada. She has boating skill resources for novice to advanced boaters.
If you feel you are not yet ready to pick a new boat of your own this coming summer, why not rent a boat? There are more and more clubs and services to help you try out boating, without the big commitment. Andy Adams and John Armstrong spent the day at the Freedom Boat Club location in Toronto. Read the story, Start Boating the Easy Way.
Next, we have three great boat reviews for you; the spectacular Neptunus 750 Enclosed Bridge, the impressive Dufour 430 Grand Large and something different – the World Cat 280 DC-X power catamaran.
