It’s hunting season, that time we wait for all year long. November weather may have brought a deep-freeze to the far north, but things are just heating up down south, and we’ve got a great lineup of stories in this November issue.
Jay Strangis discusses his strengths and weaknesses as a waterfowl hunter, and asks “What your specialty?” in our opening feature. We’ve also got pieces on hunting dry fields, creeks, white-fronted geese, and a special how-to for those who want to succeed with snow geese. Also, don’t miss AW’s great regular gear, guidance and insightful Hunt Book topics.
Our Boats Guide column compares gear-driven versus belt-driven mud motors. In Decoying, Michael Hungle tells how to tap the hardware store to improve your hunting. Tom Roster reveals what testing can reveal about your shotshell load and Robert Milner lays out the foundation of reward training for amateur trainers.
Plus, we also discuss what’s known about the way ducks use the landscape, whether river routes really do funnel ducks, the truth about corn ethanol cost and how the three duck limit for wood ducks came to be.

Overcoming the challenges of weather, water, mud, decoying birds, dog handling, proper guns and loads and getting to the birds owes much to the brilliant products manufacturers have brought to bear, and the remarkable destinations provided by guides and outfi tters. American Waterfowler answers the call for a dedicated duck and goose hunting magazine to lead fowlers into the new era, while carrying on the rich traditions gained in a century of American waterfowling.

Great magazine!!!

One of the few magazines left that actually tells the story of the hunt like the great hunting & fishing magazines of the 60's and 70's.. Experienced waterfowlers don't want to read a generic how-to articles that are so basic only new hunters would learn anything from them. Those are the articles that are so prevalent in all the current hunting magazines. They want to read what other waterfowlers are doing across the country. How they are hunting and what tricks they are using in their daily hunts. American Waterfowler does exactly that. Keep it up. Revisto 02 abril 2022
