Tractor & Machinery  |  MF 135 RESCUED
We have something
of a family edition
this month - and the
book’s all the better for that!
Take our cover story. Sean
Reagan was six when he fi rst
travelled on his grandfather’s
tractor and, of course, he
never forgot it so after grandad died he nagged
his father to rescue the MF 135. It wasn’t a
straightforward trip as you can read on page 75.
For a start there was the tree…
Meanwhile, down in Somerset there is a very nice
looking Fordson Major E27N. This one was registered
in November 1948 to the Heard family. And who owns
it now? Yes, the Heard family, but if it hadn’t been for
15-year-old Matt Heard, who knows what might have
happened because it had lain unused in a shed for 17
years before he decided to sort it out. Turn to page 31.
The Hazlehurst family - Vicky and Colin – are
experienced restorers but even they can be surprised.
When a 1958 MF 35 was advertised by a dealer they
went to see it and couldn’t work out why the back end
looked a bit odd, the wings were funny and the exhaust
ran along the underside of the tractor. All became clear
when they started to work on it. Page 10.
We also have features this month on Same, Marshall,
Ford and Nuffi eld tractors, Lely hedgecutters and quite
a few memories of the Stoneleigh training centre – not
to mention our regular family features like Junior and
Ladies on Tractors.
I hope you enjoy this
month’s issue.
