HE HAS SOMETHING SPECIAL BEYOND TALENT
These are the words of Altiors' trainer Nicky Henderson. For those that are not familiar, Altior's record over obstacles is spotless. Eleven runs, eleven wins. But one day, he will be beaten. National Hunt has too much unpredictability for horses to go through a career without losing a race. Even the two flawless seasons Altior has achieved are virtually unheard-of. But it’s a situation with which his trainer Nicky Henderson is extremely familiar, due to the exploits of another brilliant two-mile chaser, Sprinter Sacre. Sprinter Sacre. “Of course there’s pressure with Altior being unbeaten, but you have to look at it that he will be beaten one day, otherwise you’d never run,” says Nicky. “It helps that I’ve been here before, but it doesn’t make the pressure any easier to cope with. But it would be no fun otherwise. No pressure means a yard full of useless horses and I’d prefer the pressure.”
