MoT EXEMPTION DIVIDES OWNERS
The Government is making tax-exempt classics exempt from annual MoT testing from next May – despite more than half of the respondents to its own consultation objecting to the proposals. The exemption will be applied on a rolling annual basis to vehicles more than 40 years old, but the Department for Transport (DfT) has decided not to introduce the more controversial 30-year exemption rules and annual mileage restrictions it also considered. It also
stresses that classic owners will still be able to take their cars in for voluntary
MoT inspections, as is currently the case with pre-1960 vehicles.
