It’s only been days since the London Bass Guitar Show and the dust still hasn’t settled at BGM Towers, let alone the excitement. How cool was it to witness John Taylor, Jeff Berlin, Frank Bello, Roger Glover, Steve Lawson, Mo Foster, Paul Turner, Lee Sklar, TM Stevens, Lorenzo Feliciati and Colin Edwin tearing it up on the Olympia stages? Look out for a full report in our next issue. In the meantime, if you came to the LBGS this year we thank you wholeheartedly – and if you didn’t, we’ll see you next year!

As always, our mission in this issue is to bring you the very best that the bass world can offer, and who better to stick on the cover than the great Duff McKagan, who not only helped to propel Guns N’ Roses to superstar status in the 1980s and added the cool quotient to a whole list of bands since then, but also lent his name to Homer Simpson’s favourite beer? We also bring you bass-focused interviews with Grace Jones’s low-ender Malcolm Joseph, ERB specialist Igor Saavedra, extreme metal titan Shane Embury of Napalm Death and Tesseract’s fast-fingered bass shredder Amos Williams. We raise a glass to them all, and that’s before we even get close to our comprehensive review and tuition sections, in which we bring you gear and playing advice tailored to every level of ability and every budget. What are you waiting for? Dive in, and we’ll see you in April!

Really interesting

Lots of interesting articles Beoordeeld op 25 april 2022

Bass Player UK

I'm writing from Colombia. I really enjoy the magazine. Thanks guys. Beoordeeld op 20 december 2020

Always a good read

Really entertaining view of guitar Beoordeeld op 11 juli 2019

Preferred the old reader

Although the new version has a few extra goodies like a side menu with all articles and a nicer layout, the zoom isn't as good as the old reader. With my phone horizontal the maximum zoom still has tiny lettering. It would be no good to someone who is short sighted. Beoordeeld op 24 november 2012
