HEARTBREAK FOR ALONSO AT INDY
Fernando Alonso says his stunning performance at the Indy 500 last weekend will not be his last attempt to conquer the brickyard. The Spaniard skipped the Monaco Grand Prix to take part in the American showpiece and was running with the leaders throughout the event before an engine failure with twenty one laps remaining. He was classified in twenty fourth position. He led the race for twenty seven laps, and was running in seventh place when the failure occurred on his McLaren-entered, Andretti Autosports Dallara-Honda. The race was won by his teammate Takuma Sato, who became the first Japanese driver to take a
win in the Indy 500.
