The Coronation
Expect an amazing spectacle of pomp and pageantry for the coronation. The King and Queen leave Buckingham Palace in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach for the two-hour ceremony at Westminster Abbey, which will include His Majesty being crowned. A coronation orchestra plays some of King Charles’ specially chosen music while Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber has composed a coronation anthem. Around 2,000 guests are attending, including Prince Harry and the extended Royal Family, foreign royals and dignitaries and members of the public who’ve worked tirelessly for charity and local communities. Afterwards, the royal couple will ride the famous Gold State Coach back through cheering crowds. We’ll also see them wave from the Buckingham Palace balcony before a spectacular RAF fly-past. Among the BBC commentary team are Kirsty Young and Huw Edwards, while lead presenters for ITV1 are Julie Etchingham and Tom Bradby, and Dame Joanna Lumley joins Sky News for the very special day
