Acoustic  |  October 2015
Chris Cornell takes the cover of Acoustic 110 in light of the release of Higher Love, his new solo album. He speaks to Joel McIver about his creative process, his relatively new love affair with the acoustic guitar and how sometimes it pays off to scrap everything and start from scratch.
Elsewhere we have interviews with the mother and son duo Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, Dave Rawlings of the Dave Rawlings Machine fame, and John Jorgenson, whose recent triple album took in three different bands in three different genres, and British folk-punk sensation Frank Turner, who spoke to us on the eve of Positive Songs For Negative People’s release.
In our bumper review section we have guitars from Faith, Levinson, The Acoustic Centre and a £12,000 Kostal – just to get the heart racing and bank manager fainting.
There’s our regular tranche of expert tuition too, aiming to lift your playing up a level or two. And don’t miss out two special features nestled in between the regular goodies. First up is an in-depth look at a 1956 C.F. Martin & Co D-21, a rare and exquisite sounding instrument that’s resting in good hands at Replay Acoustics. While we also tasked Leon Hunt with chatting to Greg Deering about his company’s history in the year of their 40th anniversary.
