No more Lightning any more!
A new European Union ruling will prohibit the use of proprietary charge connections in 2024, requiring all new phones to use a universal charging standard, USB-C. This means that Apple’s Lightning connection will soon become a thing of the past.
When Lightning was introduced about a decade ago, it came at a time when most phones used a micro-USB port which, of course, came with a major flaw. Shaped like a trapezoid, it was nearly impossible to tell which side goes up unless you looked very closely. And if you forced it into the port incorrectly, you could cause permanent damage.
