Burghley is, without a doubt, one of the best events in the equestrian calendar. For one thing, the weather is generally pretty reliable and the setting is pretty spectacular, too. And what better way to say goodbye to summer than watching the world’s best riders jump the world’s hardest cross-country course? As final preparations for this year’s event get underway, we look ahead to the first weekend of September on p16.

But we’re not intending to wish away summer, and this issue has plenty of inspiration to help shape your horsey time – whether in or out of the saddle. Get set to compete with YouTuber and successful Grassroots eventer, Meg Elphick’s competition prep tips on p26, while M&M showing guru Sam Roberts shows us how she gets her mounts looking top-class on p38. Plus, there are training tips from eventer and British Olympic medallist, Tom McEwen on p20 – this issue he shares a simple jumping exercise that makes a real difference.

An equine first aid kit is one of the most important items you should keep on your yard so you’re ready to deal with unexpected situations. But how confident do you feel in dealing with your horse’s minor injuries? And do you know what equipment should be in your first aid kit? From storing items correctly to applying a poultice, Vet Georgie Hodson explains all you need to know on p64.

This month, Staff Writer Nicky was invited on a press trip to the Krenkerup Estate in Denmark to watch a polo match in aid of the charity The Children We Leave Behind. Aside from sampling traditional Danish cuisine and sipping champagne in the sunshine, Nicky met war veterans and found out all about the charity’s incredible work – discover more about her inspiring weekend on p8.

UK's top equestrian Mag

UK's best-selling equestrian monthly Révision 13 août 2020

Best horse mag ever

Just bought some back issues and a subscription. Used to buy it from the feed barn. Really like the way I can access the old issues whenever I like, and it is so quick to open. And this is the best all round read for me. Révision 16 juillet 2013
