SILVERSTONE TO QUIT BRITISH GP CONTRACT
Silverstone’s owner, the British Racing Drivers’ Club, is due to confirm this week that it will be pulling out of its contract to host the British Grand Prix. BRDC bosses have said that they are aiming to get support, hopefully from F1’s new bosses Liberty Media, to enable them to continue with the UK’s showpiece race. However, if none is forthcoming, then the race could be lost after 2019. BRDC president Derek Warwick said: “We are losing too much money to be able to keep going, so we may be forced to break the contract and it is something we are still considering at the moment. But at the end of the day, we have got to be able to keep Silverstone at the heart of the British Racing
Drivers’ Club.”
