Acoustic  |  102
In our March issue, we chat to US country superstars Florida Georgia Line ahead of their debut UK show at the O2 arena as part of the Country 2 Country Festival. We also hear from Manics’ frontman James Dean Bradfield, Americana-cum-blues troubadour Steve Earle, ukulele wielder Sylvie Simmons, Fink’s Fin Greenall, and two of the most important members of the UK’s folk legacy: Martin and Eliza Carthy. We also investigate the fabled mahogany tonewood from “The Tree” and talk to luthiers Patrick James Eggle, Jason Kostal, and Reuben Forsland. Reuben recently complete a custom build commission from Slash using mahogany from The Tree, so he tells us of his experience working with the wood. We review gear from Moon Guitars, Freshman Guitars, Acus, and Tanglewood. Plus, there are 14 pages of expert tuition and a retrospective feature on the great Merle Travis.
