Weißensee
Photography by Yannick Schurwanz
Located within the Gailtal Alps mountain range in the south of Austria, the Weißensee or ‘white sea’ is a nearly 12km long glacial lake often used by the German Rowing Federation (DRV) for their summer training camp to fine tune ahead of major championships. The lake surface can reach 24 degrees Celsius in the summer months, while in winter the water freezes over completely and is even used for ice skating. Here Yannick Schurwanz captured the German rowers on the Weißensee last summer.
