OutThere Magazine 3 - THE ART ISSUE Edición especial

English
3 Reseñas   •  English   •   Leisure Interest (Travel)
Only €5,99
According to art historian Christopher Reed (page 98), in the 19th century the word artist was used as a pseudonym for queer. Frankly, we’re not surprised. In the journey that we have taken to put together this, our first art issue, we have met so many incredibly talented and creative gay artists that the two things have become almost inseparable. Whatever the reason for this – artistic talent as a inherent characteristic of the ‘gay gene’, or as psychologist Alan Downs would have us believe in The Velvet Rage, a desperate cry for validation in attempt to overcome some deep-rooted shame at being brought up in a society that doesn’t know how to cope with our homosexuality. Or maybe it is just that as born outsiders, we see the world differently. Perhaps like Jean Genet we see beauty where others do not – we need to define ourselves in relation to the world around us, to explore our desires, to create our own images as a shield against the relentless barrage of heterosexual imagery. Whatever the reason, we wanted to celebrate queer artists who inspire us and share with you their life-enhancing work. It seemed fitting then in this issue to feature the city of San Francisco, the birthplace of so much creative, queer culture; home to so many important artists, writers, photographers, and performers.

OutThere is a multi-award-winning luxury travel and experiential travel journal for what is a large, global audience of travellers who identify with our core values of diversity, discovery and discernment. We aim to be the leading voice of inclusivity in luxury and experiential travel, telling stories with an intersectional and inclusive lens, from the perspective of passionate and diverse storytellers (Experientialist®s) who represent the travellers who seek a heightened level of personalisation and belonging when they head out into the world: simply because of who they are, how they identify, who they’re travelling with and who they love. We also share the stories and vision of minorities in the travel space, who are creating unique adventures that celebrate and bring to life the history and richness of the communities that they are part of.

We celebrate the many fascinating expressions of global travel, from amazing destinations to luxurious hotels and resorts to unique, one-of-a-kind experiences. Moreover, we look at journeys that extend beyond the act of travelling itself – featuring Arts, fashion, design, style and the people behind them – interspersed with strong personal stories, great photography, industry voices, inside tracks and in-depth features – that will inspire your next journey.
