I'd like to thank the Mini clubs that welcomed my mum, Kay, and I to
Northern Ireland for the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Paddy Hopkirk and Henry Liddon's Monte Carlo Rally win. Many Minis took part in the cavalcade to City Hall. Paddy led the way in a replica of 33 EJB, his winning 1071cc Cooper S. That evening the gala dinner at the Titanic Belfast was a fantastic night as Paddy recounted the experience in his own charming way that certainly left nobody with a sinking feeling. You
can see the photos on pages 86-87. Two feature cars in this issue are
sure to evoke a sense of nostalgia in many of you. If you remember the
days when the local bobby drove around in a Mini then you will love
Geoff Bell's restored Mini Van that reported to incidents in the 1970s. As with all of his restorations, Geoff went to great effort to get all the details right when it came to the Police equipment – and if he couldn't find something, he made it! Gary Smith's Cooper was tuned by Downton. It would have been a real treat to see it buzzing around in the late 60s and it is still as iconic now as it was then. If you like your Minis modifi ed then Ben Jordan's smooth 1380 will not disappoint and, if you fancy a bit more poke than an A-series, then the Mintro motorbike-engined conversion will definitely float your boat. Plus we have a step-by-step feature from AC Dodd on setting up a diaphragm clutch and
flywheel for best results, and a fun archive feature showcasing some fab illustrations of prototype Minis from a booklet produced by BMC at the time of the Mini's launch in 1959. I hope you enjoy the issue.

Just getting back into the Mini experience after 40 years or so away. I love the magazine so far, lots of variety . I have only gotten into a few issues but I feel like it will get even better the more of them I read.
Thank you.
