Living Blues  |  Living Blues #283
Living Blues #283 features Chicago bluesman Stan Mosley on the cover. At age 70 soul and R&B singer Stan Mosley may have just released his best recording to date and it shows what a powerful blues vocalist he can be. Born in Chicago, Mosley has spent the last 50 years making a name for himself on the chitlin’ circuit. As he states, “I can bring the rhythm and the blues.” Chicago-born BIGLLOU Johnson is a multifaceted entertainer. Over the years he has played saxophone, done voiceover work, emceed live shows, worked as a DJ, acted in major movies, and recorded a string of blues albums. And his fascinating career is still blossoming. Beautiful Bobby Blackmon cut his blues teeth in the hot Austin scene watching artists like Bobby Bland, T.D. Bell, and Junior Parker in the 1950s. He formed his first band in the early 1960s, but after graduating from college his life took an unexpected turn when he became a pharmaceutical salesman. After 25 years, though, he hung it up and moved to Florida to return to the blues. This issue’s Let It Roll focusses on Peg Leg Howell and His Gang’s November 8, 1926, and April 8, 1927 for Columbia Records in Atlanta.
All of this plus the latest in Blues News, Breaking Out with Adam Falcon, LB Talks To Joe Louis Walker, plus over 45 record reviews.
