DIVISION ONE
THORNHILL TROJANS, who are bottom of the section and without a win (other than a triumph over Featherstone, which was expunged when the Lions withdrew from the NCL) came very close to pulling off the upset of the season.
The Trojans lost 32-30 to leaders WEST BOWLING, who ultimately owed their victory to a penalty-goal two minutes from time by Brad Wright.
That goal was needed, Thornhill – who had previously levelled at 18-18 from 18-0 adrift – closing with Jordan Ward’s second try and a fifth goal by Joel Gibson, who had also scored a hat-trick in a tremendous personal performance.
