RED DEVILS’ SUPER SHOW
SALFORD RED DEVILS 33 HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS 16

THE hunt for the final play-off places will be one hell of a battle. Having seen Castleford Tigers and Leeds Rhinos win the previous night to tighten their grip on those coveted spots, Salford Red Devils knew they simply had to do the same.
And their case for inclusion couldn’t have been more impressive than in their first half-hour against Huddersfield Giants, producing truly scintillating rugby to blow away opponents who had long ago had their play-off claims confirmed.
At their best, this team is breathtaking and unplayable. That’s how it felt as five tries, each seemingly flowing from the last, were scored in a stunning spell, their all-out attacking game sweeping the Giants off their feet.
The arguments against Salford making the cut are as obvious as those in favour. Throwing the ball anytime and anywhere naturally brings greater risk and when things go wrong, as for a spell when Huddersfield threatened a comeback, the danger is more acute.
