Cage & Aviary Birds Magazine No.5809 Is it still love? Edición anterior

English
110 Reseñas   •  English   •   Family & Home (Animals & Pets)
Only €2,49
THE THEME THIS week seems to be whether
it’s easier or harder to be a bird fancier in Britain
compared to, say, 50 years ago. While Brian
Keenan reveals some surprising demographics
on the current state of birdkeeping in the UK
compared to other EU countries, Rosemary Low delves into
the past and asks “were the good old days really so good?”
To see how the bird:people ratio in Britain compares to
France or Greece, see page 6. Turn to page 16 to find out if
Rosemary came to a conclusion.
The approaching budgerigar show season can only mean
one thing: it’s time for the all-important show-prep. Sam
Wildes offers his top tips and states that for some people
shows are the only time you actually meet your fellow
exhibitors (see page 19).
Did you spot the printing error in last week’s issue? More
to the point, hands up if you DIDN’T spot it! This week’s
News, page 2 is a reprint of what should have appeared in
the June 18 issue. Annoying as it is, these things happen.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Earlier this month, the kind people at London Zoo invited
me to one of its Zoo Lates events. Every Friday night in June
and July, the zoo opens its gates after hours and visitors can
see what the animals really get up to after dark. There’s a
busy schedule of animal feeds and keeper talks to choose
from, but judging by the mass crowd at Penguin Beach,
penguins were hands down the favourite. I even had to wait
my turn to grab a quick snap with these Humboldts.
Rob is on holiday and
will be back in two weeks.

Cage & Aviary Birds is the world’s only weekly newspaper for birdkeepers. Written by bird experts for bird fans, it is packed with news, advice and comment from the avicultural scene. An essential resource for members of bird clubs and societies, it also offers an unrivalled marketplace for sellers and buyers of birds and all bird-related products, both in the British Isles and around the world.
As a weekly, it’s a uniquely comprehensive and topical source of news on all subjects that affect the birdkeeper: from legal changes and government consultations, through zoo and bird-park events, scientific research and business news, to the achievements of personalities in the hobby, as well as clubs and their members.
While it’s first and foremost a newspaper, each issue also offers a wealth of practical advice and tips from the top names in the bird world, plus opinion, controversy, species and hobbyist profiles, humour and nostalgia. Bargain-hunters eagerly await their copy to scan its paid and free adverts, and it is quite simply The Bible for show reports, club news and events.
Since 1902, Cage & Aviary Birds has consistently been the first-choice publication for keen birdkeepers, whether experienced or new to the hobby.
