I’m sure that self builders across the nation are welcoming the new National Plannng Poilicy Framework (NPPF), as it gives the community a massive boost. Local authorities must now assess and meet the needs of people wanting build their own homes in line with demand. The new legislation means that for the first time, every local authority, as part of the requirement to conduct a full strategic housing assessment, must assess the needs of self builders in their area, and detail how they will address those needs within their local plans. Fantastic news for those of you searching for land.
Once your plot is secured, you’ll need some inspiration on what to build on it. And there’s no better place to garner good ideas from than Build It’s selection of readers’ homes.
