Aviation News  |  October 2013
In this 84-page issue of ‘Aviation News incorporating Classic Aircraft’ magazine there is a look at the career of Sweden’s famous Viggen fighter including details of the example now thrilling crowds at airshows. Talking of airshows there are show reports from the latest Cold War Jets Open Day at Bruntingthorpe and the world’s biggest airshow – the EAA’s AirVenture Oshkosh.
We examine the Boeing 787-10, the largest variant of the Dreamliner family that was launched recently. There is a force review of the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm, an article on HS 748 operations with Canadian airline Air North and a feature about the large number of rare Cuban operated aircraft that have transited Shannon Airport in Ireland. We also look at what Winston Churchill called the “scourge of the Atlantic”, the Luftwaffe’s Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor. Plus, there are reviews of some of the pilots’ sunglasses and books on the market.
The hotel we feature in this month’s ‘Room with a View’ is one that overlooks Birmingham Airport which provides good photographic opportunities.
Along with airshow dates for the rest of this year we have the latest civil, military and heritage aircraft news, plus much more.
