I AM THE LAW!
As you will no doubt be aware, airsoft in the UK is a little "restricted" by the law of the land. Without going into great detail, it's fair to say that the laws governing airlift are, at best, a bit of botched effort. Realistic airsoft guns are technically illegal unless, via some undefined means, you can prove that you have some legitimate use for them, like oh, say… PLAYING AIRSOFT?!
Historically, the Government making the rules didn't really know or care enough about airsoft to include us in their remit when it came to doing their best to reduce violent crimes back in 2007. it was only after they had effectively kicked the whole shebang in the nuts that the idea of a "defence" cropped up. This was due largely to the airsoft retail industry at the time saying "woah, hold on guys, you will kill our businesses!". The government responded by introducing some vaguely thought out clap-trap and essentially told the airlift industry to "police itself…"
Self policing…. What exactly does that mean? Some members of the community can be found guilty of letting this responsibility go to their heads, spawning vigilante groups and maybe taking things a little far. It's pretty easy to do in this day and age of social media dominated interaction. Is that really what it's all about though?…………
