Once you have plant supports in place, tie sweet pea seedlings into their canes or netting mesh, so early tendrils extend and find the right supports. This makes sure rapid growth this spring heads up in the right direction.
Pull them towards the canes gently to avoid snapping them at the base. If just the tips get damaged they’ll soon recover, with new shoots from the buds below.
Keep the plants well watered, increasing the quantity of water as the plants get bigger. Add liquid feed once a week.
