Retro Cars  |  October 2012
With a passion for the VW scene Shaun Morris was keen to tackle a Euro-style project he could put his own stamp on. Unfortunately it’s so tough to make a statement on the fashion conscious Dub scene these days, so Shaun was forced to look outside the box for his base car. The Mk1 Astra on our cover is the result of all his hard work to stand out from the crowd, and it’s a real beauty with more going on that first meets the eye.
Staying with the Vauxhall marque, we’ve a full feature on the latest incarnation of Andy Frost’s Victor, Red Victor 3, the fastest street-legal car in the world! This thing is incredible, capable of low 6-second passes on the ¼-mile drag strip, yet able to pop down the shops for a pint of milk too. We’ve been following the car’s build since our previous feature on the car back in 2008, but the finished RV3 moves the goalposts to mind blowing levels.
If Griffen-badged motors aren’t your thing, then we’ve all sorts of other retro cars too from a Honda-powered BMW 2002, to a Volvo 244, VW 412 to a Renault Alpine in this issue. A feature on a long forgotten Kent-based drag strip, coverage of Harpenden’s Classics On The Common event, and a profile on modified classic specialist Toulmin Motors are just some of the other highlights this month.
