Big Carp Magazine  |  Big Carp 198
I’ve got a feeling that 2013 is going to be a great year for Big Carp – everything seems to have fallen into place very nicely in 2012, and 2013 looks set to be a record-breaker.
Our new distributor, Comag, certainly know their stuff, and circulation problems of the past seem to have been ironed out. With the double centenary issue due to be on the shelves ready for the carp season to kick into gear in March, we are primed with material set to blow the lid off it all. Not only the 200th issue, but our App goes into its third year, already being read in over 30 countries, and the website is rewriting the record books with 50,000 hits a month.
So let’s start the year with a flier and set the precedent for future issues with the bar held high – as the headline suggests. We uncover the secrets of Wraysbury this issue for the first time in a long while. I think the last time we had much about Wraysbury in Big Carp was when David Slowen had his ‘Carp Watching’ series in the magazine, about ten years ago. Wraysbury has always been the type of water that you don’t hear anything about. Catches are kept quiet to keep people away and rumours abound, also in an effort to keep people away. Truth is, it’s still a bit of an unknown. Its residents are highly prized and very hard earned. That’s why we are so pleased to bring you photos of both King Fungus and the Little Lin. Thanks Wayne and a big thanks to Tom at Sticky. (By the way, Tom’s got some more rare ones for us next month!). I am also very excited to tell you that Terry Dempsey is writing a Wraysbury piece for us next month. Cheers lads – our readers will love it, I know. It’s funny how these catches only ever end up in Big Carp.
