The all-new Ford Ranger has been eagerly anticipated for a long time.
And of course, this is especially true of the high-performance Raptor version.
So the good news is that this month in 4x4, that’s exactly what we’ve got. We spent a vastly entertaining day behind the wheel of the new V6-engined Raptor on an event which included a session of flat-out off-roading – and of all the 4x4s we’re ever experienced, it’s up there with the very best as a driving machine.
Elsewhere in this issue, we’ve got a quartet of 70-Series Land Cruisers – plus three outstanding examples of a Defender 90, a Suzuki LJ and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Think air suspension, a unique restification project and a starring role on Car SOS… this one’s action-packed and no mistake.
Hammering your way around a frozen track in the Arctic is quite action-packed, too. You’d want a good, rugged off-roader for that… so we’ve got the story of a group doing it in Porsches. No, not Cayennes.
But they still held on like glue.
And altogether more British kind of adventure is to take your favourite detour through the local ford. We’ve all done it. Indeed, we on 4x4 have done it more than most – and this month’s issue contains a guide to 25 of the most entertaining we’ve found.
