Model Engineer  |  4523
Living in a vast rural area in Queensland, Earl Hansen has had to be resourceful but with an interest in things mechanical and an inspirational grandfather, Earl took to model making - but with a slightly different view of things. We show off some of his remarkable wooden works of art.
We also feature more conventional model engineering in the form of the Andrew Barclay Well Tank, a ‘Mastiff Plus’ - the I/C engine described by Mick Knights - and an Allan Brothers semi-diesel stationary engine designed and described by Frank Cruickshank.
By popular request we have a follow up article about Rosebud Grates and some philosophical thoughts by Ralph Oliver. Travels on the railways of Japan and a look back at Victorian steamships add to the great variety this issue.
